Pack a Better Lunch

Packing a lunch is a great way to save money and eat nutritiously during the work or school day. With a little planning, you can make it a part of your daily routine. Start by asking yourself a few questions.

  1. Do I have a refrigerator available at work or school? If yes, that’s great. If you have a quick commute, you can bring your lunch in any type of bag and store it in the fridge. If not, you’ll want a lunch bag or cooler that you can place a few ice packs in.
  2. Do I have a microwave available? If yes, that means you can bring a lot of different foods. If not, you’ll want to focus on foods that you won’t mind eating cold.
  3. What do I pack? Leftovers from dinner can be a great low-effort option for lunch. You can also do a little prep work to make easy lunches for the week. For instance, cut up veggies and store in a plastic bag after grocery shopping. Those cut up veggies can easily be thrown into a salad, sandwich, wrap, or grain bowl.
